KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii Island police are seeking help from the public to identify a person who was caught shoplifting on surveillance cameras.

KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii Island police are seeking help from the public to identify a person who was caught shoplifting on surveillance cameras.

The incident took place on April 25, when items were shoplifted from a store in Hilo. The unidentified person caught on camera is described as a local male in his late teens, or possibly early 20s, with a medium build and short dark hair.

Police request anyone with information on the person’s identity contact the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311 or Officer Joshua Gouvela at 961-2213.

Those who prefer to remain anonymous can contact the islandwide Crime Stoppers hotline at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Crime Stoppers keeps all tipster information confidential.
